The Economic Development Corporation is responsible for promoting the City of Lexington as a place to locate new job-creating enterprises and to assist enterprises already located in the community in expansion programs. The Department also develops, manages and markets the surrounding area, which offers scenic acreage. 

 

The Department maintains strong ties to the City of Lexington, utility suppliers, the commercial/industrial real estate community, workforce training providers, financial institutions and many other service providers. The Economic Development Corporation understands the importance of proper facility siting and its impact on long term profitability.

About Lexington

With a population of 1,178, Lexington is located in Lee County and is a short 45-minute drive from Austin. Many residents of Lexington commute to Austin. There are over 20 local and community churches in northern Lee County. Lexington has 41 businesses within the trade area, two financial institutions and a very active Chamber of Commerce. There are five volunteer fire departments located in and near Lexington. Lexington also has an active EMS unit and 911 service, plus a rural health clinic.
